My comment #2 above is invalid.  I ran a m2.2xlarge, and showed it had 32G of memory. a m2.2xlarge *should* have 32G memory.  I've now verified the same ami (ami-4a0df923) does show 64G of memory.
$ dpkg -S /boot/vmlinuz-$(uname -r)

$ uname -r
$ free
