Using revoco, I configured the mouse (an MX Revolution) behaviour only ONCE.
Even with the mouse off, those settings seem to persist, so it would seem that revoco alters the "driverless" mode, making my favorite mode the DEFAULT one.

At least it seems so, since even powering up the mouse with the receptor
unplugged retains it's behavious.
