for lucid, take the steps at #13, and same problem at boot : black screen and blink cursor.
Reboot in recovery mod. Log into console, type "startx" and install drivers "Broadcom STA" and NVIDIA.
Reboot, it's working !

kernel used is 2.6.32-21-generic (default)

so problem not solved in Lucid without these tips.
