- Latest Ubuntu updates incl. kernel and grub2 updates to not solve issue as of 08/18/10, nor does reverting to earliest/other kernels
- Solutions offered in forums do not work!!!
- Gnome 2.30.0 03/31/10
- Kernels 2.6.32-22 and -21
Error Message:
After POST there is a blinking cursor at top left for 30 seconds, then:
"Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
- Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
- Check root= (did the system wait or the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/bf7226b9-7f33-4747-996c-193252e92713 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

not work!
