When you boot your machine it will usually say press F1 or F2 for setup.
This is to go into the bios setup menus. Check the clock there and make
sure that it keeps time. Most machines have a coin size battery that
keeps the clock running even when the power is shut off to the machine.
If this battery is failing then this would cause ubuntu to also display
the wrong time.

Make sure the BIOS clock is correct, use your machine as normal. Ignore
the ubuntu clock for now. Shutdown when your done using it like you
normally do. Next time you power up go and check the BIOS first once
again. Make sure the time is correct and hasn't defaulted back to 12:00
or something completely off. Post back your results.
