[Bug 578457] [NEW] Lucid (still) freezes, forcing hard reboot

Public bug reported:

Between 1-10 hrs of boot, active processes will gradually slow & stop --
Firefox grayscreens, then mouse pointer unresponsive along with KB, then
seconds on clock display stop (up to 2 minutes later) when cursor on
terminal stops. When KB goes out no VT or NumLock/Scroll Lock toggle
LEDs work, no SysRq+REISUB either. Only a hard reboot will restart the
system.

I've tested the latest kernels, all with the same bug.

Currently:

$ uname -a

Linux lothario 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 28 13:28:05 UTC
2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Other kernels that I've tested:

2.6.34-999-generic

2.6.34-020634rc7-generic

All yield the same results.

I had a similar problem on 9.10 Karmic, but didn't file a report, hoping
that 10.04 would fix it.

I've encountered the problem without FF running, only using the Terminal
(screen, vim & python). The other Lucid freeze bug reports are similar,
but in my case I notice absolutely no messages in any logs pertaining to
this lock-up, when grepping for timestamps nearby to the lockup time.
