After upgrading to Lynx 10.04 I cannot login normally :(
I can however login in recovery mode and open GUI using startx.
In single user mode, my sound controls seem to be messed up as I do not have any volume control. Also I can play flash video but not video residing on my machine (and skype detects my webcam but shows a black screen)
Normal bootup is stuck after "Checking battery state... [OK]"
If I open another terminal during normal bootup and do startx, the GUI comes up but messed up in horrible ways - with no mouse, no window buttons etc.
sudo gdm doesn't work from terminal as well, exits with an assertion failed error.

Here's the lspci output:

lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G96 [GeForce 9600M GT] (rev a1)
