I have similar problems when using:-

VMWare Player 3.0.1
XP Guest

Any disk i/o in the VM causes the IOWAITs to sit at 90-100% and the rest
of the system is unresponsive.

This is a Core2 Duo system with 2Gig RAM.

Linux mpfj-ubuntu 2.6.32-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 08:10:02 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

BTW, the same VM appears to work fine on another PC, this time a Quad
Core Phenom with 4Gig RAM.

Any ideas ?
