Hi Jeremy,
I did this:

rm *.deb
wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/linux-image-2.6.34-999-generic_2.6.34-999.201005041005_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

and reboot. 
I get a black screen with a blinking cursor (white underscore) in the top-left corner.
