Oh yes, kernel versions. 
As the OSes aren't installed any longer, I can't uname -a them to find out, but they were both updated with the latest kernel for the respective version - lucid kernel, I think was, 2.6.32-16-generic and at the time the karmic kernel was 2.6.31-20-generic (I think). Hope that helps. But as tehy are not installed, I can't give much more information.
