[Bug 546406] [NEW] update-initramfs Can't open /scripts/functions

Public bug reported:

After the update-manager completely died on me (see bug 546262), I ran
"apt-get install -f". It installed a large number of packages before it
encountered this error.

Processing triggers for initramfs-tools ...
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-20-generic
.: 4: Can't open /scripts/functions
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mouseemu
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
