** Description changed:
Hello.
Laptop Compaq nx6110; 9.10 newly installed, no upgrade; metacity; no
visual effects; Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express
Graphics Controller (rev 03)
I have several issues and symptons:
1. I had no issues in 9.04.
2. Suspend works properly if invoked from indicator-applet-session.
3. Suspend fails if invoked with fn hotkey (even if keyboard is properly
configured to suspend on XF86Sleep) and instead I get a black screen.
4. At closing lid it eventually does nothing, get a black screen and/or
launchs firefox (sometimes after opening lid I have found the desktop
with dozens of firefox instances), at that very moment and eventually
during the lifetime of the sessión, sometimes its very annoying and I am
forced to reboot.
5. Suspend works properly even with fn hotkey in log-on screen, but once
in gnome session it misbehaves.
6. tty term sessión are unreachable at any time, I get a black screen
instead.
- 7. Resume fails and I get a blank screen with no way to return the x session. I must restart. I have found a 3 step
+ 7. Resume fails and I get a blank screen with no way to return the x session. I must restart. I have found a 3 step
workaround to this: once in black screen after resuming, (1) go to x sessión with ctrl+alt+f7, (2) go to any tty term session with ctrl+alt+f1 (for instance), (3) again go to x sessión with ctrl+alt+f7 and you are back.
#4 above, update
- It had to be with fn hotkey XF86Display which was attached to 'Launch
+ It had to do with fn hotkey XF86Display which was attached to 'Launch
firefox' in keyboad shortcuts preference. I had configured that. Once
set XF86Display to 'do nothing' this multiple firefox launch does not
happen anymore. Anyway I believe this is still a bug related to keyboard
hotkeys, whith previous configuration firefox should only be launched at
keyboard event, not at closing lid event.
#7 above, update
It may be ignore step 1 in the workaround provided. Furthermore, instead
of black screen I eventually get a basic term logon screen than anyway
it does not respond to any event. It just displays:
Ubuntu 9.10 hostname ttyX
hostname login:
