Adding position_fix=1 to the options snd-hda-intel line didn't seem to
make any difference for me.

PC: HP Pavilion dv1550se laptop
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR400
Video: Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller
Sound: 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 w/ all updates as of 3/8/10
