I've been doing research on this bug today as it's affecting our Fedora-
based server system. In the end I found that the bug was fixed a couple
of years ago already, but it seems that the patch has not been
backported to the mainstream kernel:

I could be wrong, however, and this could be an entirely different
problem with the same symptoms :)
