The volume control on the panel only works between 90% and 100%.

 90% on the panel ===   0% PCM in alsamixer
100% on the panel === 100% PCM in alsamixer

I have volume buttons on my USB-speakers that change the volume by 10%.
They are useless now. I need to use the mouse to move the slider one or
two pixels to get the desired control.

In Ubuntu 9.10 it did work as expected.
