I can confirm this error also, and if I remember correctly, this bug has
been bothering me for years (at least since jaunty, I didn't have such a
big thumb drive before, so maybe I didn't notice it). In the meanwhile
the only "solution" is to split files and copy them patiently, or leave
the copy all night long to finish.
