Public bug reported:
Reading various guides about vpnclient I have managed to compile, patch
and run vpnclient 4.8.02 on Ubuntu 10.04. However, shortly after
running "vpnclient connect <profilename>" the entire system hangs.
I've tried reducing the number of cores and this has had no effect. I
am running on Ubuntu 10.04 VirtualBox VM running on a Ubuntu 10.04 host
running on a W510 Thinkpad laptop. I'd very much appreciate any
indication that this either works or there are workarounds as of June
2010 as there are 10s of blogs and guides on compiling patches for the
Cisco VPN client which have mixed success from various users. As others
have reported, this worked ok in 9.04 and maybe I've had it work once or
twice in 9.10 using the Network Manager to import a profile. Since then
I can't get network-manager or vpnclient command line to work. Network-
Manager just says "failed" and vpnclient hangs hte system. Once saw a
trace in messages and couldn't see the offending line(s)... haven't been
able to reproduce the output since.
If someone can at least tell me it is possible or not I can stop wasting
time on this issue.
