I was actually able to resume with the 2.6.35-5.6 Ubuntu kernel. Will
see over time if it consistent or a one-shot, anyway it would never work
with the earlier Ubuntu kernel. Looking at

maverick.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/tags/Ubuntu-2.6.35-5.6> I wonder if it
could be the "UBUNTU: SAUCE: pm: Config option to disable handling of
console during suspend/resume" but in my case I saw the X screen coming
up, it just did not redraw completely.
