Hear ye, hear ye.

I used:

nohz=off

kernel option and..... no freezes! I usually had a freeze within a
minute (I boot lucid from a pen drive - just for testing, since I'm not
that brave to install it because of this bug).

So if this option helps you we'll have a nice workaround and a starting
point for developers.
