With "USB Legacy Device Support" turned off in the bios (which means
grub2 doesn't see the keyboard), then I instead get these errors:
usb 8-4: new full speed USB device using xhci_hcd and address 0
xhci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: WARN: short transfer on control ep
....
xhci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: WARN: Stalled endpoint
So it looks like a fairly reproducible bug somewhere in the
intersection of this motherboard, this USB device, and the lucid
kernel. I've also seen problems using the keyboard from the USB3
ports, but I'm haven't yet dug in to whether they're exactly the same.
Ask if you want more data.
With "USB 3.0 Controller" off, devices connected to those ports are
just not seen.
