Public bug reported:
2.6.32-22 has caused the suspend and hibernate to "break" on HP Compaq NC6400 notebooks
2.6.32-23 did not make any difference, still broken
Suspend and Hibernate worked in 10.04 Lucid kernel 2.6.31.20 or earlier.
(I also went back to Karmic 9.10 and 9.04 on numerous other systems and found zero issues-SUSPEND & HIBERNATE WORK!)
When I boot into 2.6.32-22 or later kernels and close the lid on NC6400,
nothing happens (settings in power management set to suspend). System
does not suspend or hibernate and upon reopen screensaver is not
activated.
System is instantly accessible to whoever opens laptop
When I boot into 10.04 kernel 2.6.31.20 or earlier (including Karmic
9.10 or 9.04) and close lid system suspends (or hibernates if selected
in prefs-power management) as expected. Upon resume system is locked (if
selected in prefs-power management) as expected.
This is a security issue as anyone opening lid to our systems has
complete access
