ingo,

You still have an error message, it is just in dmesg and
/var/log/messages. However, it's not a big error. Remember, this driver
is *only* to enable hardware monitoring of things like fans connected to
the motherboard and extra thermometers. If you run with the boot option
"acpi_enforce_resources=lax", you will have the same behavior as in
hardy, but again this only affects the HW sensors driver.

That gets us back to the whole point of this bug. This bug is not about
fixing functionality. This bug is about the boot experience. The message
that gets printed over the splash screen is not only ugly, it makes
people think that it's the primary cause of all their issues. It's not.

This should be fixed in the latest Maverick kernel, so I'm setting the
bug state as appropriate.
