[Bug 597093] [NEW] linux kernel fails to boot; seems mptspi related

Public bug reported:

2.6.28-17-generic is running fine. Any newer kernel starting from
2.6.31-17 does not boot. Trouble seems related to mptspi driver,
messages are hard to capture since boot fails, but goes something like
this:

mptspi
initiating bringup
issuing reset for mpt_config
initiating recovery
unexpected doorbell active

after a long delay dumps the stack and blinking keyboard.

Machine is ibm x225 server with 53c1030 PIX-X Fusion MPT rev 7
