I am reporting that the SAME exact bug, as described in post #10 CONSTATNLY occurs on HP Pavilion DV5 1000 with Lucid Lynx x32 and all latest updates.
It happens out-of-the-box too.

I also have not found a pattern - it seems to be completely random.
