The problem does remain in Lucid, as standard, but once the boot switch
is added, detailed above, it works as expected - as it did when I
reported the changes I made from Jaunty to Karmic. I am now not sure if
I should now consider this 'hack' as a true fix for the bug and allow it
to close, or hope that a better 'less hacky' fix is made.
I would value feedback on whether this 'hack' has any negative issues -
though I've not noticed any in the year or so I've been using it.
