Public bug reported:

An up to date Lucid system (2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 3
19:31:57 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux) crashes when starting a Windows
guest in VMware-player.

A 120MB crash file is created. Unfortunately apport fails to upload
this, that's why I am filing this bug manually.

The output of a short 'crash' session is attached and shows what 'bt -f' and 'log' are telling us.
If I can do anything else to help finding the root cause, let me know. This crash is reproducable.
