Public bug reported:
I have noticed a strange problem with the new GRUB eg: version 1.96 used
in the later Ubuntu distros (Currently I am experiencing the problem
with 10.04 but it also happened in 9.10)
The problem does not happen in the old legacy GRUB eg versiom 0.97
The problem is that when the GRUB menu is onscreen and the countdown timer is running, my laptop makes a strange hissing noise coming from the circuitry, definitely NOT the speakers or the fans.
The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P35
As soon as I press a key and interrupt the countdown timer the noise stops. From this it seems something related to the timer is causing the problem.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
