Well, 'cat' prints, but it does not wake up the fan, so I'm afraid it's
not worth opening a bug report.

I also tried the following, but they don't work either:
cat /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/temp* > /dev/null
cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone?/trip_point_* > /dev/null
cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/cooling_device?/*_state > /dev/null
