Alex, is there a reason you set the status to New?  By now the status
should not be New any more.  It seems to me this is not a bug in linux
at all and so it should be changed to invalid.  Hibernation requires as
much swap space as you have ram.  If you don't have enough, that is a
system misconfiguration, not a bug in the kernel.
