Public bug reported:
When I plug my device under Linux configured as ethernet gadget in my usb port, I should have usb0 in ifconfig.
But it doesn't load automatically the module cdc_ether which allows that so I have nothing in ifconfig.
Here you can see my dmesg when I plug the device :
[ 1893.144013] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
[ 1893.324440] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
and lsusb gives :
Bus 004 Device 005: ID 0525:a4a1 Netchip Technology, Inc. Linux-USB
Ethernet Gadget
So the device is perfectly recognized.
Now I load manually the module :
$ sudo modprobe cdc_ether
Here is dmesg :
[ 1893.144013] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
[ 1893.324440] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 2330.603945] usb0: register 'cdc_ether' at usb-0000:00:1a.1-1, CDC Ethernet Device, 4e:79:50:3e:46:30
[ 2330.604167] usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_ether
usb0 is created and now I can access to it in ifconfig.
$ ls /sys/class/net/
eth0 eth1 lo usb0 wlan0
So I think that the matter comes from the module which is not
automatically loaded. Whereas on Ubuntu 9.10 it works perfectly.
