Public bug reported:

Hello, I've tried to update the kernel of a persistent ubuntu lucid pen
drive and failed to create the image. I think there is a permission's
issue; i was doing it as root, but i haven't added users yet, maybe if i
do that it will solve it hopefully.

While i was installing the updates, the terminal printed something like:

Warn: the uid is 0 while filesystem uid is 1000

im figuring 0 is for root and 1000 is assigned to a user or something?
I've tried to do adduser to make an user with uid 1000 but it printed:

adduser: Only one or two names allowed.

Another thing i found funny is that if i open diskutility/palimpsest on
a native installed ubuntu it see's the pendrive as one fat partition,
when i boot from the pen drive i see the ext2 filesystem mounted on
/dev/loop1; i try to examine its contents threw nautilus but coudn't get
inside... though if i go to the filesystem, based on its properties, it
actually is the ext2 filesystem according to the space left on the
drive. I installed it threw the make startup disk option using
persistence option...

Another thing i coudn't do was to boot it from hdd's grub, selected
root=/dev/sdb1 , it acted like booting but it stopped on console mode
saying (initframs). Tried exec gnome-session / exec gdm start; both
didnt let to anything... thought this might be cause of my ignorance
about grub configuration and i need to mount it before somehow...
