[Bug 592872] [NEW] linux-image-2.6.32-22-386 hangs on Cyrix 6x86L

Public bug reported:

Running Lucid Server on an old Cyrix 6x86L machine.

linux-generic (linux-image-2.6.32-22-generic) and linux-386 (linux-
image-2.6.32-22-386) both hang as soon as the kernel tries to load.
"Starting up..." is all that is shown.  Tried kernel options debug and
initcall_debug on the command line but no further output is shown.

I'm currently successfully using linux-image-2.6.24-23-generic (-386
works too) from Hardy, but can't use anything more recent.
