[Bug 592030] [NEW] Sony DVD+-RW D-Q58A drive does not recognise DVD-R disks

Public bug reported:

This bug is identical to lp:561585 except it applies to a different DVD-
RW drive, and the problem still occurs with udev 151-10.

This is an old Dell laptop running Lucid all up-to-date to today.

1. The drive recognises CDs correctly
2. It does not recognise DVD-R from my camcorder. A different computer with a different drive does recognise the disk.
3. I have not tested is with other types of DVD.

The symptom is that the disk never appears on the desktop, or in the Places menu. The DVD drive sits there making noises periodically, as though it is continually trying to read the disk.
