I echo the comments of Sobolosrios. We need to fix the kernel to run
tickless with highres timers without the boot and resume problems. I
have tried many things and find that using the kernel parameter "nohpet"
(don't use the hardware precision event timer) avoids the slow boot
problem. But it seems to make the resume problem even worse. The log
files (kern.log, etc.) do not give much information after suspend/resume
so I cannot tell what is going wrong. The problem may be in the ahci or
libata modules (disk driver) as boot will hang for 7 or 8 minutes (if no
kernel parameters are used) at the point the root partition is mounted
and accessed. Suspend likewise hangs for 7 or 8 minutes and probably
at the same point.
