Come on, guys, I know this scenario seems complicated. As you can see,
many different software may be involved into this bug: framebuffer
module (shipped with linux kernel), xorg core, xorg mga driver, mplayer,
directfb. What I would like is to let raise which of them is the root of
the problem and I will submit the bug report to the right person. But in
order to do this, I need some hint; I'm not scared in compiling
custom/debug builds by myself.

To be honest, I'm going to give this dual-booted PC to my dad and I
would like very much if I could tell him he can do with it everything he
used to do with his old windows xp and even more. But this is actually a
lie (his scanner will never work with sane and he knows).
