@Chase Douglas: tested your package, with the backported driver from
2.6.34 and it seems to be working fine. This fix is included in upstream
since 2.6.33, that's the version with the updated driver.

My hardware is an EeePC 1000HE, with following description and code:
01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: RaLink RT2860 [1814:0781]
	Subsystem: RaLink Device [1814:2790]

@Wolfgang Kufner: do you know if the ad hoc use case worked with a
previous kernel, like 2.6.32 and/or 2.6.33?
