This is a clean install, not an upgrade. And the mouse works, it just
causes the CPU usage to go crazy. I don't even have an xorg.conf (a
configuration which works fine in a fresh install of, well, anything
else).

Not running easystroke either.

And most importantly, it ain't fixed.
