I tried to follow the instructions on comments 14 and 20, but
unfortunately this seems to work only partly. I get the following in
/var/log/messages:

Jun  1 08:24:33 tptfeubu kernel: [    4.805522] USB Serial support registered for Qualcomm USB modem

Jun  1 08:24:33 tptfeubu kernel: [    4.806006] usbcore: registered new interface driver qcserial

I also have /dev/ttyUSB0, but NetworkManager and umtsmon don't recognize
the device. lsusb shows

Bus 002 Device 004: ID 05c6:9204 Qualcomm, Inc.

Any ideas where I might start looking?
