External USB hard drive gives the error as mentioned above (Error
detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching device yada yada..)

If any further info is needed, I am happy to run whatever tests are
needed.

System Ubuntu 10.04, all up to date. 2.6.32-24-generic kernel (but error
was here with previous kernel too)
