Public bug reported:

After install on an HP Proliant DL365 of the amd64 ubuntu-server build
from 20100727, the following occurs:

Illegal OpCode

EAX=0000F000  EBX=00000004  ECX=000005FF  EDX=00000001
EBP=0000FBF0  ESI=00007F18  EDI=00000001
DS=CF00       ES=0000       FS=0000       GS=0000
CS:EIP=1000:0000F018        SS:ESP=0030:0000FBF6
EFLAGS=00000286

This appears immediately upon boot. I have been unable to invoke the grub console in order to verify that grub is loading correctly, though this may be because I am viewing it through a serial console. (I will request an attempt to get to the grub console tomorrow when someone is in the DC and able to access the console of this system.)

The system worked fine on previous maverick ubuntu-server images.

Unfortunately I can't add a lot of information at this point as I'm
wedged here. However this system is in a Canonical testing lab so can
be wiped and experimented with as necessary. Please let me know what
additional information I can provide.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
