Hi Mario,
I have found something that may help others.

After building my new computer I still could not get Mythbuntu or Ubuntu to
install.
I had used 2 components from my old computer:
1.    The cd/DVD ( IDE)
2.    Linksys wifi ( PCI )

When I removed the IDE CD/DVD and replaced it with a new (SATA) the install
of both worked great.
Funny thing is the old IDE unit had been working OK under windows.

After the install of Ubuntu I hooked up the IDE and Ubuntu would not see
anything on the DVDs or CDs.
The drive itself showed up but Ubuntu could not read from it.

Another thing I have found that might help is I found that the OEM install
for Ubuntu and Mythbuntu from the old IDE CD/DVD would work.
After installing Mythbuntu however I could never get past the password in
the OEM Login.

For Ubuntu I was able to:
1.    Login
2.    Make a new administrator user
3.    Log off as OEM and into as the new administrator account
4.    Delete the OEM user account 

All seemed to work well with Ubuntu except getting the HVR-2250 card to
work

Today I bought a HVR-1600 and it still is not working but I have some leads
on what to do, and so I have not given up.

New Problem with the Dual Boot after installing Mythbuntu.
I told it to do a dual boot with Ubuntu (installed first) and the install
went well. (Using new SATA cd/DVD)
However when I restarted, the grub reports an error and starts Ubuntu.

Monday night I hope to do a clean install of Mythbuntu and let it be the
stand alone on this computer. 
If that goes OK I will try a do a dual boot to Ubuntu.

When I loaded Mythbuntu into Ubuntu, I did not like having the top and
bottom Ubuntu screen bars showing when Mythbuntu was running.

Anyway, Thanks for all your help.

I have given up on my older system.

I made the mistake of trying one more time to install Mythbuntu 10 and now I
can not get the system to boot.
Thank You for your help on this.

I hope to install onto a brand new computer this weekend.
All parts arrive today and I will build it tonight.

Before you get too deep into debugging my older system;
I have ordered all new hardware to build a Mythbuntu Media System.
This computer should be running Sunday, after which I will try the install
again.

OK, what settings are you picking in the F6 menu to fix it?  Nomodeset ? Yes
I selected Nomodeset.
Maybe a better way for us newbies would be to have a main menu selection of
Safe Graphics" like the older versions. (Brian)

Also, can you please help provide the details of your hardware?  You
should be able to provide them to this bug by running this command: I will
get this info once I get home from work. I will try tonight. (Brian)

splash screen with status bar the screen flashes several times on text only
