My thought is to update ALSA to version 1.0.23 which seems to have
solved the problem for newer versions of Toshiba (Toshiba Satellite M300
and Toshiba M305-S4830) following instructions in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6589810#post6589810.  Any
advice as to whether this is a good idea?
