[Bug 604994] [NEW] Automatically unblank after hibernate

Public bug reported:

On an otherwise successful resume from hibernate, ubuntu leaves the screen blank, giving the perception that it has not finished or has broken.

I've tested this on several different laptops, including a Dell Mini 10v and Dell Latitude XT2, and suspect it to be a general behavioral issue rather than a hardware-specific issue. However, I've attached bug data for XT2 for reference.

Doing a hibernate seems to work properly, showing bios and blinking
cursor. At some point it completes, but the screen is blanked at this
point. This strongly resembles some failure modes for resume from
hibernate, giving the user an impression that it has failed when it
hasn't. The blank screen also is not easily distinguishable from the
bootup process (which might have a blinking cursor but otherwise is a
black screen), so the user is not properly cued when resume has

I seem to recall that the reason for blanking the screen had to do with
hiding some ugliness that would appear during resume. If this is the
case, perhaps the screen could be left black and a timer set to unblank
it a second or two after resume was finished.
