Public bug reported:
Running faubackup on this 64-bit Toshiba Satellite laptop (model
p305d-s8900), saving backups to a 320-GB Acomdata E5 external firewire
hard drive (model HD320FE5-72), causes the drive to become read-only in
a few minutes. Simple Backup causes the same behavior. Adding the
option max_speed=1 to the sbp2 module solves this problem. Changing to
the new firewire modules (including firewire-sbp2) does not solve the
problem. I'm using a 6-pin to 4-pin cable to connect the drive with the
laptop.
The drive works correctly on a 32-bit Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop also
running up-to-date 10.04. It also worked correctly on an old Micron
Millenia desktop with a firewire PCI card running 10.04.
