With reference to Anthony Bodle's comment on 2010-05-27 that states : " Booting in recovery mode and selecting low graphics option also results in a stable system."
This is false. I've tried this and it is not true for all programs accessed. Most programs appear stable but I get a total "freeze" where nothing works as soon as I start Blender and try to move an object around in 3D space even though I have booted in recovery mode and selected low graphics option. This "freeze" happens every time.
