Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

$ sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-28-server
mkinitramfs: missing md root /dev/mapper/volgroup1-logvol1 /sys entry
mkinitramfs: workaround is MODULES=most
mkinitramfs: Error please report the bug
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-28-server
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-24-server
mkinitramfs: missing md root /dev/mapper/volgroup1-logvol1 /sys entry
mkinitramfs: workaround is MODULES=most
mkinitramfs: Error please report the bug
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-24-server

initramfs-tools version: 0.92bubuntu78

I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 (LTS) to 10.04 (LTS). After upgrade I needed to change MODULES=dep in
/etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf
(because my BIOS is so old that with the new Ubuntu version MODULES=most takes too much space)

The I ran "update-initramfs -u" command but got the error above.

Now I cannot boot Linux until the problem is somehow solved. I
appreciate any workaround!

BR,

Tommi Palomäki
