C'mon, this is a no-brainer to fix. For the latest Maverick kernel source (linux_2.6.35-6.9) edit:
 arch/powerpc/configs/pmac32_defconfig line 741

-# CONFIG_BLK_DEV_CMD64X is not set
+CONFIG_BLK_DEV_CMD64X=y
