alpha3:
boot, try ubuntu, black screen for 2 sec, kernelpanic.

boot, F6, quiet splash to acpi=off noapic pnpbios=off, white text
raining down fast for 5 sec, black screen for 4 sec, cursor appears
loads for 3 sec, desktop.

still a kernel panic, workaround still works.
