  manager-and-blanking-removal-of-bodges/ xorg needs to be patched to
  allow gpm to effectively read idle info from xorg.
  
  sometimes, the screen will blank while i am using my comp, and upon
  moving the mouse, the brightness is very low and a icon in the
  notification area has a tooltip that says "session active, not
  inhibited, screen idle. If you can see this text, your display server is
  broken and you should notify your distributor."
