[Bug 624760] [NEW] Thinkpad X31 fails to power off on shutdown

Public bug reported:

Since installing 'linux-backports-modules-alsa-lucid-generic' package on
the -24 kernel; a Thinkpad X31 has been failing to power down.

All kernels (-22 to -24) do not shutdown correctly. The shutdown
graphically process would get up to 3 lights in plymouth before
stopping, and have tried waiting for 5 minutes to see if this would
eventually un-hang itself.

Removed the ALSA backport modules which appeared to have created this
problem and rebooted to narrow down the issue to this package. This time
the lights got up to the 5th one before stopping.

The machine appears to have actually "shut down" but the kernel has
failed to switch off the power; this did not happen before the ALSA
package installation.
